Wanting to know whether the errors in your child’s speech are age appropriate or not?

Articulation development, or the development of speech sounds, develops in stages from birth to around 6 years of age. Research into the normal acquisition of speech sounds provides us with information about what to expect in terms of when certain sounds are expected to develop in a child’s speech. If your child hasn’t mastered a certain speech sound by the age that they are expected to have developed this sound, it is likely that they will require therapy for this sound. For information about the expected ages that each speech sound should develop, click here. If you are unsure whether your child’s speech is age appropriate or if you think your child may need Speech Pathology for their articulation, feel free to get in touch with us to arrange an appointment.
